Bay View Training was founded in 1995 (originally Bay View Consulting Services) by William and Holly Ward, offering Perl training, consulting, Web design, and Web hosting services. Over the years, our business grew and evolved, shifting the focus more to training. Since 2002 we have been offering Perl training and coaching services exclusively.

Also in 1999, William started teaching Perl at De Anza College in Cupertino, CA. After working there as a part-time instructor for several years, he developed the Perl 101 curriculum and Bay View Training was launched, with Perl 101 debuting in July 2002. Since then, we have offered Perl 101 about once every two to three months as a Saturday course with open enrollment. Perl 201 was introduced shortly afterward.

The Perl 101 and 201 courses have also been used successfully as onsite training courses for a variety of corporate clients, including retail giant Target Corporation, chip manufacturer Brocade, and Yahoo!

We also offer one-on-one coaching services, where we meet with clients for an hour or two periodically, offering guidance, code review, and other services to make sure your project is a success. This service also includes telephone and email support, all for a reasonable hourly rate.

Additionally, some of our Perl expertise is available for you to download in the form of Perl Modules, and you can contact us to develop some customized software just for your needs. Plus, you can try some of the Exercises we have online, based on those assigned in our Perl training courses.
